Stands upright but to use it you would tilt until it was horizontal and place the top strainer over the cup, once the tea was dispensed when you return to an upright position any excess drips drip down into the small drip bowl below.
In excellent order and stands approx 130mm tall, the strainer bowl measures 57mm across.
