A rare Scottish Provincial over sized sterling silver vesta case by William Robb of Ballater, hallmarked from Edinburgh in 1912.
We have never seen a vesta of this size so there is a possibility this was a one off piece made to someones specific requirements.
In very clean order but please note the small repair to the back, this repair was the result of a piece of carbon being trapped within the silver at the time of manufacture, the carbon then started to show and has then had this repair, it has not had a hole .
So whilst it ticks so many boxes it does have this annoying flaw.
On the plus side how many will have a vesta this size by William Robb within their collection?
Measures 70x52mm, 18mm at widest point of the base.
