English antique sterling silver pocket compass, hallmarked from London in 1816, no makers mark is present on the silver case.
The dial is marked to show it was made by William Hawks Grice of New Bond Street in London.
The compass is in wonderful order with no damage and works well as does the lock to lock the needle when not in use.
The rear has a presentation inscription and below this the year 1817 has been faintly scratched.
The outer protective red case is complete but is very fragile but has served its purpose well in protecting the compass.
Measures 44mm in diameter and 10mm in depth.
