Description
Antique English sterling silver caddy spoon, hallmarked Sheffield 1898 with the maker’s mark being that of R & W Sorley.
This is a Silver Caddy Spoon, R & W Sorley, Sheffield 1898, with shell decoration to bowl and handle terminal.
Measures 84 mm in length.
In very good clean order with just a very small repair on handle, very hard to notice and very well done.
Compared to other spoons, caddy spoons have shorter handles and shallower bowls. The spoon handle is shorter and, as a result, the spoon can be stored with the tea in a tea caddy. The shallow bowl is to accurately measure out the right amount of tea leaves.
