Antique English sterling silver tea caddy spoon hallmarked from Birmingham in 1809This is a Silver Caddy Spoon, Joseph Taylor, Birmingham 1809 nicely decorated, with the makers mark being that of Joseph Taylor. 2 small stress hairlines to the front where bowl joins stem, not seen at all from the back view. Measures 67 mm in length. Compared to other spoons, caddy spoons have shorter handles and shallower bowls. The spoon handle is shorter and, as a result, the spoon can be stored with the tea in a tea caddy. The shallow bowl is to accurately measure out the right amount of tea leaves.
