English Antique Sterling Silver Caddy Spoon by John Lawrence & Co, hallmarked from Birmingham in 1817.
This is a silver Caddy Spoon, John Lawrence & Co, Birmingham 1817 in good clean order.
There has been an erasure of an initial on the handle’s terminal, not instantly noticeable but will be seen when inspected using a loupe.
Measures 75 mm in length and 31 mm across its bowl.
Compared to other spoons, caddy spoons have shorter handles and shallower bowls. The spoon handle is shorter and, as a result, the spoon can be stored with the tea in a tea caddy. The shallow bowl is to accurately measure out the right amount of tea leaves.
