A very fine excellent quality Scottish sterling silver lidded tankard by George Edward & Sons, hallmarked from Glasgow in 1880.
7 vignette panels in relief with figural finial to lids top.
The engraving to cartouche reads ” Barry Sullivan to Dan Fred Spiller 1880″, Barry Sullivan was a well known actor of this period who was known to have acted in Shakespearian plays, we believe the images on the tankard may be scenes from some of his acting roles.
In first class condition complete with its original case, excellent attention to detail throughout.
Stands approx 190mm in height.
