Scottish Provincial Sterling Silver Fish Knife, William Ferguson ELGIN 1838

Scottish provincial sterling silver fish knife, interestingly marked with Edinburgh hallmarks for 1838 and the sponsors mark of Marshall & Sone but also marked with the mark of William Ferguson on Elgin.

One will have made it and one probably retailed it, what way round we can not be sure though.

It has a cosmetic surface stress line, this is only evident to the rear and not on the sides nor the front, cosmetic only and has no depth what so ever, the knife is perfectly strong and this line does not do nothing to the piece.

Interesting piece which measures 198mm in length.
