English antique sterling silver large snuff box by John Shaw, hallmarked from Birmingham in 1812.
The odd small dink and wear to the gilt interior, it is the top back seem above the hinges that carries the damage or should we say an old solder repair, most noticeable from the inside but it is noticeable as well from the outside, from handling and polishing much of the pattern is now smooth.
Inscription to the lid’s inside.
Possible a project for someone to tidy up the old repair?
Measures 78x48x20mm.
