A pair of antique sterling silver cast sugar tongs with gilt finish by Philip Batchelor c.1770, Not common to see gilt examples.

Condition very good, however there is one small fracture/hairline(minimal) which would have been caused at time of manufacture and before the gilt finish took place, Cast tongs are notorious for some sort of damage or repair, these are however a splendid example and they measure 130mm in length.
