English antique sterling silver snuff box by Edward Smith, hallmarked from Birmingham in 1845.
Date letter a bit rubbed and hard to determine for definite but appears to be 1845.
It carries a much later inscription to the lid, dated 1912.
Interior retains all of its gilt finish, the outside shows traces of gilt so this box looks to have been either fully gilt finished but has now lost a lot of that gilt.
A good box in very good order with no damage.
Measures 72x42x16mm.
