Scottish antique sterling silver large snuff box of circular form.
Hallmarked from Glasgow in 1853.
It carries the family crest of The Baird family of Cambusdoon in Ayrshire, the Latin wording Dominus Fecit translates into English as ‘ The Lord Did’.
It carries an engraved date beneath the crest of 13th Jan 1837, so maybe an original box was lost and this was a replacement and the family wanted the same engraving?.
Couple of minor pinhead dinks which need to be moved around in the light to pick up on.
A super quality box which measures 77mm across and 79mm top to bottom and has a depth of 20mm.
