Antique Sterling Silver Porringer, Prince of Wales Gifted to Countess of Sutherland 1921 Dunrobin

English antique sterling silver porringer with serpent handle to lid , hallmarked from London in 1919/20 with the makers mark being that of Lionel Alfred Crichton.

A very impressive piece even without its important history, this piece was given by The Prince of Wales, later to become King Edward VIII who went on to abdicate, it was gifted to Elizabeth Millicent Leveson-Gower who was The Right Honourable The Countess of Sutherland who resided at Dunrobin Castle.

The engraving reads ” To Elizabeth Millicent Leveson-Gower on the occasion of her christening from her Godfather Edward, Prince of Wales 29th April 1921″ , on the other  side it carries The Prince of Wales feathers crest.

In wonderful order , in super clean order and of excellent weight.

So much can be found on the internet about The Prince of Wales, The Countess of Sutherland as well as Dunrobin Castle.

Measures 178mm across handles and stands approx 115mm tall.
