English antique sterling silver gilt snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, hallmarked from Birmingham in 1831.
100% gilt finish, outside and in, only light loss on the lip where lid sits, unusual to get a gilt exterior that is not rubbed in places, pretty much this is as good as one could hope to find.
It carries an inscription to the lid’s interior which reads ‘From Major White to his friend Pat Lacy as a small token of his high regards & esteem 1st January 1842’.
Condition is excellent, just one small pinhead sized dink to base, this small mark can be seen on the image of the base.
Measures 72x43x15mm.
