Russian antique silver vesta case by the famous Pavel Ovchinnikov, it is marked to the lip and to the inside of the lid, above Pavel Ovchinnikov’s name is the bottom half of the double headed eagle which he was granted to use as he was Court Supplier. Its in super condition with good tension still on lid/hinge area, applied monogram to front.
The striker is changeable and slides out from a small concealed lip within the case.
A super quality item which one would associate with Pavel Ovchinnikov and it measures 62x38mm approx.
The assayer is Artsibaschev, Anatoly Apollonovitch who worked Moscow 1888-1898.
