A little springback of blade in the closed position (minor), otherwise a very attractive example.
Measures 146 mm when opened and 84 mm when closed.
In England, silver fruit knives became popular after the assay offices opened at Sheffield and Birmingham in the 1770’s. The blades of these knives were hallmarked, following assay in line with the system conceived by Edward II. Men often gave them as presents to their wives or paramours.
