English antique sterling silver folding fruit knife with mother of pearl handle.
English antique sterling silver folding fruit knife with mother of pearl handle.
Hallmarked from Sheffield in 1816 (marks very worn), there is no makers mark.
Now there is no way we could write that this was in good or even ok condition, this knife is pretty much only suitable as a filler for a collection until something similar comes along in a much better condition and price does clearly reflect this.
There are quite a few small nibbles to the mother of pearl on edges here and there, however there has been a replacement square added to replace a missing or damaged part of the handle and this is easily seen in the images, also the blade would appear to have had a split at the point where it joins the handle and has also been repaired.
On the plus side and I can assure you there has not been many pluses with this one, it is in clean order.
I would also state this knife is delicate and would not now be useable as to much pressure I am sure would result in more damage.
Measures 148mm in length when opened and 81mm when closed.
