Description
Antique English Sterling Silver Caddy Spoon
An antique English sterling silver caddy spoon with interesting design, in pristine condition and having a family crest to its terminal which we have not researched.
The spoon is in good condition and hallmarked Birmingham in 1830. Furthermore, the maker’s mark is that of Ledsam, Vale & Wheeler.
This is a splendid example in immaculate order and measures 77 mm in length and 37 mm across the bowl.
Compared to other spoons, caddy spoons have shorter handles and shallower bowls. The handle is shorter so that the spoon can be stored with the tea in a tea caddy and the shallow bowl to accurately measure out the right amount of tea leaves.
