Description
Antique American sterling silver caddy spoon by George W Shiebler & Co of New York c.1895.
This is an American silver caddy spoon, George Shiebler c.1895.
Planished/hammered effect finish, very heavy example weighing in excess of 39 grammes.
In very good order and measures 103 x 53 mm.
Compared to other spoons, caddy spoons have shorter handles and shallower bowls. The spoon handle is shorter and, as a result, the spoon can be stored with the tea in a tea caddy. The shallow bowl is to accurately measure out the right amount of tea leaves.
