Three antique sterling silver large dinner knives, the handles being sterling silver and they have steel blades, the blades you can see have some corrosion which we have not attempted to remove.
One blade marked Ellis of Exeter and the other two marked Catchpole & Williams.
Hallmarked from Sheffield (no date letter) but will be c.1850, makers mark is that of Aaron Hadfield.
A very interesting crest on each handle which is the crest of General Sir Thomas Monteath Douglas KCB ADC, “Out of an Eastern crown or, the rim charged with three bombs fired, an oak-tree, the stem transfixed by a sword fesseways, pommel and hilt to the dexter, (for Monteath).”.
Handles are in very good order, blades are as you see them.
